Swedish & U. S. Prisons / A Comparison : In 13
pages the
author compares Swedish and U. S. prisons. "Both the United
States and Sweden share the commonality that criminal offenses
should be punished. The United States, however is harsher in
her treatment of criminals. She has more prisons and more are
being built all the time. The United States has the death penalty,
with the state of Texas being the leader in executions. Sweden
does not. The United States is getting tough on crime with its
'three strikes' laws, while Sweden allows convicts out on
unsupervised furloughs. Sweden's overall approach to
managing its offender populations relies less on incarceration
and more on alternatives than the United States. The
incarceration rates are much lower in Sweden than those in the
United States." Paper contains an example of an outline.

The Use Of DNA In Paternity Cases : 5 pages in
length.
Technological advances now enable men to be identified as the
father in a paternity case through the means of DNA
fingerprinting. This scientific breakthrough has been
instrumental in linking otherwise unidentifiable parties by
matching the child's DNA to the father's in order to establish
positive relation. History has demonstrated that the methods
once utilized to extract paternal connection have been less than
one hundred percent successful; with the implementation of
DNA fingerprinting in paternity tests, the margin for error has
all but been eliminated. The writer discusses DNA testing in
relation to paternity cases. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
