Another on the same is one of the series of Hobson poems, and its most overt theme is the death of Thomas Hobson, who was for over half a century  a coachman at Cambridge University in the seventeenth century. The title of the poem refers to the fact that Milton wrote other poems about Hobson, and this follows on from  them as another on the same theme. Hobson had  maintained a regular transport service between the University and a London inn named the Bull, carrying mail, students and visitors, and was therefore a well-known figure at the time. However,  the poem also makes raises some more general issues regarding the nature of work and leisure, and the extent to which human beings define themselves through their occupation or profession.  In the opening lines of the poem,  Milton equates Hobson with continual movement and life: move, jog and trot not only emphasise the connection with horses, as Hobsons coach was, obviously, horse-drawn, but also the idea that  Hobson would never die as long as he was on the move. Until his revolution was at stay, in the sense of a ball which has stopped spinning, he was  never to decay. The cessation of motion, like the stopping of an engine, has brought about his ending. The image is somewhat reminiscent of a shark, which must keep swimming  in order to survive, since its physiology does not allow it to rest.
