Review of Literature 1. There is scant data on this subject. 2. However, there is much anecdotal evince  to support a conclusion. IV. Conclusion 1. Relevance of the research to the field:  Even if no positive correlation is found, more about the association between domestic violence and crime might be and that will also prove to be relevant.  Children who find themselves in juvenile detention centers are not typical. They have committed crime and this is not the norm. Some suggest that these youth are  more often than not from dysfunctional homes and many have issues concerning domestic violence, physical or sexual abuse, or have substance abuse issues (Young, 2001). Many have multiple problems.  Gahr (2001) explains that "juvenile crime is decreasing in some categories--like auto theft--and rising in others. Aggravated assault and battery by juveniles increased 25 percent over the last half decade.  The Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) speculates this is mostly domestic violence--a rather literal sign of growing family breakdown" (p.26) . While there is much speculation as to the fact  that crime is exacerbated by domestic violence in the home, more proof is needed in order to adequately support the assumption. However, all studies will have limitations and domestic violence
