Conclusion Sandra Cisneros 1991 short story "Woman Hollering Creek" tells the tale of a Mexican woman, Cleofilas, trying to cope with her new life  in Texas and her depressing marriage. As her world becomes "sadder and sadder", Cleofilas begins to understand the depth of sorrow La Llorona must have felt in order to be  named the sobbing and wailing woman, her translation for the "woman hollering" after whom the creek was named.
