SA142CAA.rtf Executive Summary While it seems as if the Clean Air Act Amendments, and particularly  Title I, would hinder development in many industries, it appears that this is not the case. There is some evidence of flexibility in the Act and in the Amendments that  allows states and various companies to meet the conditions of the Act without going to extreme measures. Cost had always been an issue, as well as politics, particularly in 1989  and 1990 just before the Amendments were passed, but it seems as if the implementation of the Amendments has by no means harmed the economy, which had been strong through  much of the 1990s. I. Introduction The clean up of the environment is seen as an important  political and aesthetic consideration and further one that affects health and well being of residents and animals that inhabit the land and waters of the nation. The Clean Air Act  is one of several laws designed to protect the environment and the living things that thrive in the wild. Generally, legislation concerning environmental protection is political and controversial. While most  citizens would opt for the clean up of land and water there are other forces which drive against such protections. The forces that generally oppose the desired legislation are corporations  that pollute themselves and others who believe spending money on environmental concerns is simply unnecessary. The Clean Air Act, along with its Amendments, is something that was created
