    Each article is examined for strengths and deficits and then a concluding discussion of the research methodologies that they represent is offered. Relationship between tourism and cultural heritage management  McKercher, Ho and du Cros (2004) In their study, McKercher, Yo and du Cros (2004) explore the nature of the relationship between tourism and cultural heritage management (CHM), with  specific focus on the destination of Hong Kong. These researchers cite how, in the past, conflict theory has provided the foundation for most of the studies that have examined the  relationships between tourism and other sectors. However, these researchers posit that a conflict paradigm may not be the most appropriate paradigm for explaining this relationship. Rather than present this traditional  view, these researchers outline a continuum that reflects different levels of maturity in the relationship that develops between these two sectors. Seven different possible relationships are identified (McKercher, Yo and  du Cros, 2004). As part of their introduction, theses researchers do not simply ignore the ways in which their focus topic has been previously explored and they explain the  conflict perspective. They then offer their perspective, which is that the "sharing of the resource" affords an opportunity for partnership (McKercher, Yo and du Cros, 2004, p. 539). In other  words, "Heritage tourism reintroduces people to their cultural roots" (McKercher, Yo and du Cros, 2004, p. 539). Furthermore, culture, as a tourist attraction, can provide powerful reasons for why a  regions "historic, cultural, religious and industrial past" should be preserved (McKercher, Yo and du Cros, 2004, p. 539). This is enlightening, particularly because the researchers first outlined the competing  traditional conflict perspective. The authors also make a strong argument for their change of focus.
