One only needs to consider such publications as GQ to realize the significant impact power and gender have  upon the content of todays magazines, confirming the accusation that the male gender is all-powerful within its various segments. However, on the other side of the issue is the  feminist treatment of women with such magazines as Cosmopolitan and Redbook, where women are not merely the focal point but they are the portrayed in such a manner as to  command respect and admiration. To say that women have had to fight for their existence within the world of popular culture would be  a gross understatement. Indeed, the road to self-expression through the written word has been paved with patriarchal intolerance and characteristic skepticism. That women have been forced to prove  their worthiness within the stringent boundaries of a male-dominated existence speaks volumes about the inherent fortitude that comprises the female spirit. The concept of feminism embodies a number of  critical theories by which to better address the various perspectives of interdisciplinary connection. As a means by which to establish a fundamental basis for women to be perceived within  the myriad literary components, the feminist critical theory serves to create a semblance of organization between and among the foundational elements of feminism. It has always been the primary  quest of the feminist critical theory to assess the sometimes-strained yet always misunderstood relations between the genders. Feminist critique truly seeks to unsnarl the web, to effectively analyze the  inherent differences -- both real and imaginary -- political, economic, social and experiential. Sexuality is perhaps one of the most influential of all
