for ease of illustration. For example, suppose someone is planning a surprise fortieth birthday party for her husband. There will be various stake holders even though one individual is  in charge. There will be external environment factors that could have an effect on the running of the party. Many operational issues come into play. When creating a case study  it is important to keep in mind that while stake holders include party planner personnel, in a personal situation, the most important stake holders are the guests, the guest of  honor and the individual who is throwing the party. A sample case study supposes that Jill is planning a birthday party for her husband, Jim, who is turning forty on  September 18, 2004. He has a sister Mary who is older than he and a younger sister Caroline. Mary lives in San Diego but Jim and Jill live in New  York. Caroline lives in New York and is only thirty minutes away from Jim and Jills home. The party is supposed to be at a local restaurant called Neds. This  is an Italian restaurant that has a room in the back for parties. Neds is a place where the couple often go and so Jill is excited about having the  party there. However, Caroline has other ideas. She would like the party to be in her home. She has a large house and is willing to do most of the  work, but Jill has her heart set on a catered affair, feeling that it will be easiest for all. After all, Jill is the wife. Jill and Caroline do not  get along. Further, Mary would very much like to attend the party but is not able to fly in for the event, something that has irked both Caroline and Jill.
