    won their independence, but the colony in question did not. There are only two choices. One is to continue authoritarian rule of the past, and the other is to  defect to the side supporting liberation from colonial rule. Which choice should one make? The student notes that while authoritarian rule would make one economically better off, it would not  help ones moral stature nor the life of the downtrodden. In making this decision, concepts of colonialism and its legacy should be considered and applied.  Lessons learned about decolonization of Vietnam, South Africa and India come into play. Before embarking on the lessons learned in what is by the time the scenario takes  place old history, the colony must be specified. The fictional colony is called Detrocopia and it has a large settler population. The colony is dominated by black individuals and ruled  by those from England, a nation that has existed longer than any other of the old, Earth countries. The colony has experienced segregation only in that it is predominately black  and does not contain a multitude of races. By this time, the Earth is composed of 60% blacks and Hispanics, 20% whites and 10% Asians and 10% other and mixed  races. While the majority of the nations have a great deal of black people, Detrocopia is composed of approximately 99% people of color and just 1% of other races.  Detrocopia has about 6 million people, which is large for a colony, particularly because it is located on a small island in the Atlantic that was formerly uncharted. Years of  transition in the seas had brought about the emergence of land areas, some of whom claimed was the rectified Atlantis and others who scoffed at the notion, but in an
