    nationalism at this time. It may seem odd that I write a letter on this topic, but I have heard that you have set beliefs on this subject and I  believe that you are wrong. Nationalism is alive and well in the United States and it is good. Further, it is not necessary that nations be homogeneous for nationalism to  be fostered. First, your idea that nationalism is bad due to what happened in Nazi Germany is simply not valid. Nationalism taken to extremes can be disastrous, but that is  a contorted manifestation of this rather favorable concept. As you have seen during the terrorist attacks, the world had banded together and become one. It was us against them. No  longer was Britain separate from the United States. Once our mother country, as we were disgruntled colonists, Britain joined us, and the world came together and opposed the terrible forces  that were the extremists led by Osama bin Laden. Few opposed us on that day, but as time passes, they will forget and the sense of pride in country will  return. The sense that humanity is one is not always seen and that is unfortunate, but nationalism and pride in ones own country is also positive. It is important to  look at nationalism, and not with disdain as nationalism is good. People should take pride in their countries of origin and this was seen quite clearly after the attacks when  flag manufacturers were probably the only companies making any money towards the end of 2001. In any event, it pays to explore the relevance of nationalism and related concepts.  You must understand that in the course of understanding the relevance of nationalism, national culture, official culture and tradition, you will be able to comprehend the dilemma of homogeneity versus
