Their deep commitment to social and environmental issues on a local and global scale has increased their popularity and their profits. Along with a web site which covers sites in  the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France and Japan, the company incorporates an active social component to their mission. Their mission is composed of three parts based on  the quality of their product, the stability of their economic factors and their feeling of social responsibility worldwide (Ben & Jerrys Homemade Holdings, 2002). One of Ben & Jerrys  greatest strengths is their social commitment to world issues and their philanthropy. 7.5% of their pre-tax earnings are given directly to the Ben & Jerrys Foundation, employee community actions teams  throughout Vermont and toward corporate grants through the Director of Social Mission Development. The issues which interest them the most in regards to grants are projects based on environmental concerns,  family management and disadvantaged groups to name a few (Ben & Jerrys Homemade Holdings, 2002). Their commitment to environmental issues is in areas of the community, Vermont and international in  their scope. They work with the Environmental Working Group and Rural Vermont which helps to preserve family farms in the area while being aware on the impact on the environment.  Both locally and globally they support and work with the Business for Social Responsibility organization which helped establish over 1400 new businesses. Globally, they support organizations such as Greenpeace and  the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies which was established in reaction to the Exxon Valdez oil spill (Ben & Jerrys Homemade Holdings, 2002). This commitment to their community, to Vermont,  to new business establishment and responsibility and to world environmental issues has been one of the greatest assets to the popularity of their product. This commitment is their greatest strength
