    Summary of the research paper:

    This is a 5 page paper discussing the new policy implemented at the University of Colorado Boulder regarding a ban on alcohol at the university stadium. Their proposal consisted of a two year trial which during that time incidents of security problems would be recorded and season ticket holders and students would be polled in regards to their satisfaction of the new policy. The proposal and the trial turned out to be successful as security incidents decreased and attendance was not affected. Bibliography lists 2 sources.

Their proposal consisted of a two year trial which during that time incidents of security problems would  be recorded and season ticket holders and students would be polled in regards to their satisfaction of the new policy. The proposal and the trial turned out to be successful  as security incidents decreased and attendance was not affected. National studies across campuses in the United States have reported that at least 34%  of all college students reported binge drinking within a one month period before a Core survey and 42% had reported binge drinking within the last two weeks prior to the  Core survey (Bormann and Stone, 2001). This Core survey was consisted with two other national surveys done by the College Alcohol Study (CAS) and the Harvard School of Public Health  in which was reported that approximately 44% of college students had reported periods of binge drinking within two before responding to the survey (Wechsler, 1996).  During these periods of binge drinking students also reported that one of the motivators for drinking was to get drunk (47%) and over 25% reported losing their memories  during a drinking binge while 21% reported having unplanned sex and 12% reported having been injured because of alcohol consumption (Wechsler, 1996).  Because of the shocking statistics reported about drinking on college campuses, the University of Colorado (CU) at Boulder realized that they were not an exception in this case as the  Harvard survey had reported that over 50% of the CU undergraduates had reported binge drinking which was above the national average. Because of the high incidents of assaults and injuries
