Introduction In Chapter 5 of "Age of Conflict" by  Leslie Derfler we are offered a look at the opinions and theories of historians as they relate to the Nazis. The works discussed primarily address the Nazis in general, not  necessarily providing us with only a study of the Nazis as they were involved in WWI or WWII. The opinions of the historians generally serve to provide us with a  very intricate and enlightening look at the world of the Nazis as well as the intentions of the Nazis. The works range from a discussion of fascism to a discussion  of the good peasant Nazi wife. In the following paper we discuss the theories and opinions of the historians, comparing and contrasting as we go along. The Nazis  In the first work to be discussed, written by John Strachey and titled "The Menace of Fascism: The Marxist View," we are provided with intricate details concerning the tactics and  strategies used by the Nazi-Fascist parties as they worked to bring themselves to power. What this particular reader found fascinating was the sheer determination and power that these people possessed  in their attempts to essentially control anything and everything they could. We often look back on the history of the Nazis and only picture Hitler as the primary force. We  see Hitler as the primary leader and thinker, believing others merely followed him and his beliefs. This particular work illustrates how deep the thinking truly went, how this entire party  was determined from the beginning to take control and ensure that Germans were the only people and the only power.
