    well. One of the most widely examined events concerning the effectiveness of an administrations duty is that which involved the Bush Administration. Many have examined the Bush Administration as it  relates to the defense planning systems used to identify political objectives and then applied to military resources in order to accomplish their objectives as it related to the international factors  of the time. In "The Commanders" by Bob Woodward we see a very intelligent look at the Bush Administrations defense planning systems which were used to identify political objectives. In  the following paper we examine Woodwards presentation as it relates to this particular subject. The Commanders and the Bush Administration In Bob Woodwards "The Commanders" he takes a  look at the Bush Administration and tries to ascertain how they used their power to involve the military in various international problems and affairs. His story is a very detailed  look at the workings within the administration as it involved several key players and key decision makers of the time period. For example, he presents us with men such as  Congressman Dick Cheney and General Colin Powell, both of whom were appointed by Bush and were put in place to actively present ideas concerning military involvement of the military. Colin  Power was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Dick Cheney was the Secretary of Defense. In addition to these men Woodward offers us a look at others  as well. Men such as the Secretary of State James A. Baker and National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft are also discussed and brought into the subject matter concerning policy and  approach. These were the men who would make the decisions that involved us in the Persian Gulf Crisis and the Panama invasion. In many ways it is quite
