    this paper properly! Introduction Foreign policy is one of those issues which incites many to argue whatever opinions they may hold. It is also a subject that urges people  to truly contemplate the conditions of the world. Through history and current events, people examine the conditions of foreign policy, some believing they have the answer, and others merely trying  to understand the complex realities which involve all aspects of foreign policy. William A. Williams is one individual who has taken a very brave step and offered up a very  controversial position, criticizing the United States for much of their foreign policy in the past. Written several decades ago, Williams book still stands as one of the most talked about  as it relates to one particular theory regarding foreign policy. In the following paper we summarize, review, and analyze Williams book, "The Tragedy of American Diplomacy." The Tragedy  Williams work, as alluded to, developed a powerfully radical critique of American foreign policy. Williams argued that the countrys inability to see things from a somewhat revolutionary perspective, was actually  nothing but ignorant, and misplaced, faith in liberal capitalism. His book urged, as well as advised, the United States actively adopt sort of an "open door" policy for revolutions. Now,  it should be understood that Williams was not a communist, nor a revolutionary in the truly aggressive aspect of the word. Many attacked him for being both, but the reality  was that he was only a free thinker with radical thoughts. His work was merely trying to get people to not be quite so ignorant about their government, blindly accepting,  believing, and following foreign policy. William Appleman Williams essentially embodies the true definition of a revisionist, which is one who examines the evidence from a fresh angle and breaks with
