    live in the world the same as most. At the same time, the Act has been costly to employers and school systems even though that was not the intent of  the law. For example, some employers allow certain individuals to work at home as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act ("Disability," 2003). Such options may be necessary and  while accommodations are not supposed to significantly affect profit, the truth is that it is hard to find a way around that. It seems that the bottom line is to  some extent affected. Similarly, on the education front, taxpayers have to foot the bill for public transportation for students with disabilities or design a program that accommodates their specific needs.  A student developing a thesis for this subject might want to suggest that the ADA is not working and that is because it is too costly to administer and it  also is not all inclusive. First, a definition of ADA is appropriate. II. The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) When the acronym ADA is referred to, one is  referring to the Americans with Disabilities Act. Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 actually took effect on July 26, 1992 ("Facts About," 1997). It prohibits  private employers, as well as state and local governments, employment agencies and labor unions from discriminating against individuals who are otherwise qualified, but have a disability, from procedures, hiring,  firing, advancement, compensation, job training, and any other terms, conditions or privileges of employment (1997). III. Impact of the ADA The ADA has been seen  by many as a significant piece of legislation as it prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities (OBrien, 2002). The courts have become the primary means of enforcement for the ADA
