    on introducing such services as m-commerce, which allows people to access the Internet and each other for wireless technology (AT&T Wireless, 2003). Having split off from the mother AT&T Co.  in 2000 in order to better pursue technology for wireless, AT&T Wireless debuted as a public company during 2001 (AT&T Wireless, 2003). The company today now competes effortlessly with competitors  such as Sprint PCS, Nextel, Cingular and Verizon Wireless. Following is a SWOT analysis about AT&T Wireless, which identifies the companys  strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. We will also include a SWOT matrix at the end of this report. Strengths. The major  strength of AT&T Wireless is the brand name. Although the wireless component is still very new (it actually was launched during the 1980s as McCaw Cellular), AT&T as a  company has been around almost forever. It has been known as the good guy, as it first provided telephone service during the early part of the 20th century.  And it was known as the bad guy during the 1980s when it was accused of monopolistic practices like a long distance calls. Because of this, AT&T Wireless is  able to trade on the AT&T name, which represents longevity and quality. People tend to trust a name they know, as opposed to the name of some young upstart company.  Weakness. While the brand name is AT&T Wireless greatest strength, it could also be considered its greatest weakness as well. To  many people, AT&T Wireless is not necessarily a pioneer -- but rather a huge corporate behemoth that hears nothing about its customers and more about its profits. This has
