policy makers and politicians but for the world population as the phenomenon is starting to make some noticeable effects. As such, technological revolutions are centering on the idea of green  or sustainable power sources and how they can improve these power sources for the betterment of mankind. Three such technologies, solar buildings, small wind turbines, geothermal pumps are becoming the  most popular choices for consumers. Solar Buildings Passive solar buildings are not a new idea but they are becoming increasingly popular  with homeowners. Solar buildings offer a cost effective and efficient way to heat and cool homes without the use of mechanical components. The basic idea behind this green architecture is  to have the south side of the building or home made up of glass or other transparent material. This will allow the suns energy into the home where an absorbent  material will then store that energy for use throughout the day. Passive cooling of homes using the solar building design depend on proper design and appropriate building materials. For example,  a home using this principle will use a light colored roof to help deflect heat from the sun. It basically comes down to appropriate and efficient design in an effort  to utilize the most out of the sun and the suns path (Oikos 2010). Cost Since passive solar buildings rely so  much on orientation, materials used, and even the size of the windows it will be costly to retrofit buildings to follow this ideal. During construction of new homes and buildings  creating a passive solar building is actually pretty cost effective. Prices will increase depending on the construction materials used. If an owner chooses hard to find material or material not
