If the text used in class is in a particular book or edition, you may want to list that.  It is also often good to list something that you particularly liked about the play in the conclusion... ie it made me think about aging in a different way.  I do not believe that love exists unconditionally - your call. Introduction David Hares 1998 play, "Amys View," is a drama based on the need, and the nature of theater.  With that in mind we might expect characters to be symbolic, as well portray their fictional role. Like all fiction there may be some difference of opinion  as to who is the most important character in the play. These symbolic references in "Amys View" will form the core of this discussion. Function of characters The most  important function of any character in a piece of fiction is to move the story forward. In a play that particular function may be a tradeoff that is brought  about by the particular interactions of characters with each other. Esme Allen: The character of the aging actress of the theater is the pivot of the play. We  can certainly wonder if she is the most important, for we might say there would not a story without her.
