    and minds of people. She stands as an icon in many respects. For example, she was not much more than a typical teenager caught in some very terrible times. Other  people were caught up in the same times, and others suffered the same fate. In light of this fact, she embodies what many experienced, and her diary, published in many  forms, reminds us of the spirit of man as well as illustrates that we are not all that different from one another. Interestingly enough, he diary, according to a recent  ABC production of her life, is the second most widely read non-fiction book in the entire world. According to this production, the Bible is the only other non-fiction story that  sells more copies and is read more. This fact, in and of itself, proves what a powerful icon Anne Frank is and was. In the following paper we provide a  brief overview of Anne Frank. Anne Frank Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1929. "The Franks family business included banking, management of the springs at Bad  Soden and the manufacture of cough drops. Annes mother, the former Edith Holl?nder, was the daughter of a manufacturer" (Anonymous Anne Frank (1929-1945) annefran.htm). She and Otto were married in  1925 and gave birth to their first child in 1926 a daughter named Margot Betti. Until she was 4, she lived happily with her family in Germany, where her father owned a successful business" (Wooster  7).
