    family, and the huge growth that the video game industry has undergone in recent years. He then goes on to explore the possible social repercussions of video games on the  nations youth, pointing out that the parents of victims of the Columbine High School shooting have named Sega, Nintendo, and other gaming companies in $5 billion lawsuit. These parents argue  that the shootings would never have occurred if the boys who murdered their classmates had not been primed by playing violent video games. To this argument, Fishman counters with  the statistic that, in the decade in which video gaming has increased so dramatically, all categories of juvenile crime have plummeted. He then goes back to telling his readers about  the huge video game convention, with which he began his essay and how realistic the games have become. The skateboarding game, for instance, that he describes actually gives the player  a sense of momentary weightlessness. He also argues that such games increase player coordination, essentially tutoring the player for the real activity. For this reason, Fishman argues that video games  represent a controlled way to experience true adventure, that video games offer modern children a chance to escape their over-scheduled, urban lifestyles. Also, he argues that, for many of the  countrys urban children, playing "in the woods," or in the local park has become too dangerous, that it is better that they explore the outside world sitting on the living  room couch. An examination of the relevant literature does not full support Fishmans hypothesis that video games are innocuous. However, neither does empirical research indicate a definitive correlation between  increased aggression and video gaming. While it is true that research indicates a correlation between viewing violence and aggressive behavior in regards to television viewing, the research on the relationship
