    Ethical dilemmas present themselves everyday in the business world. One such dilemma is the marketing of tobacco products. Although I personally regard those who deal in  tobacco product as irresponsible, given the severe impacts known to be associated with those products, tobacco is a legal product in the United States. It is also a product  upon which many livelihoods depend. Indeed, despite its track record for adversely impacting health, tobacco continues to play a large role in American society. Not only is a  significant percentage of our population addicted to tobacco, the industry provides jobs for countless others and wields phenomenal political power (Piedmont Publishing Company, 1999). One aspect of this power  has targeted women specifically (Berkley Wellness Letter, 2001). In addition to its adverse impact on the health of adult women, smoking can be contended to be one of the  most concerning correlants to adolescent health (Berkley Wellness Letter, 2001). The ethical dilemma which thus presents itself is whether or not the marketing of tobacco is morally acceptable.  This dilemma can only be sorted through with a thorough examination of the health impacts of this product and an analysis of the marketing approaches which are being utilized.  Philosopher have argued practically since the beginning of time as to how to decide such ethical dilemmas as that presented above. The consensus  men like John Steward Mill and Imanuel Kant have come to is that morality and ethics can be determined only in relation to society as a whole. In other  words the rightness or wrongness of an action should be determined based on whether it benefits the greatest number of individuals. The tobacco marketing dilemma can only be rectified,
