The next month, a boy who was about  the same age was taken to an emergency room in North Dakota after persistent vomiting (2002). He died the next day as a result of pneumonia and MRSA was  found in his lungs (2002). This twentieth century nightmare that uses the acronym MRSA has not gone away. The number of patients who acquire methicillin and multiple antibiotic resistant Staphylococcus  aureus (MRSA) infections while hospitalized is increasing throughout the world (Cookson, 1997). This is rather alarming given the devastation that this type of infection can cause. This pattern does  vary from nation to nation and is also different in different hospitals and even on different wards (1997). In the United Kingdom for example, unlike in many other countries,  when MRSA re-emerged during the early 1980s, epidemic strains had been characterized and numbered at the Laboratory of Hospital Infection in Colindale(Cookson, 1997). At first, the outbreaks only happened  regionally, but then isolates emerged during the 1990s and had caused outbreaks in several regions (1997). One can see that this disease is contagious and something that needs to  be controlled. The prospect of having a perfectly normal teenager one day and then burying him the next week due to some sort of infection is frightening. Yet, the tales  told above regarding the situation in the United States are true. Again, the disease exists in many countries and seems to spread in wards, in hospitals, through cities and countries  and the resurfacing of this deadly infection is horrendous. Before embarking on prevention and treatment issues, MRSA must be defined. II. Definition MRSA is actually
