    that deals with some escaped convicts who are on the run, murdering and robbing. They are chased by the state trooper and blood and emotional upheavals are rampant throughout. In  some ways it is reminiscent of "Of Mice and Men" in terms of its use of a developmentally disabled man who is enormous and somewhat dangerous. In other ways it  is reminiscent of a gangster story from the 20s or 30s. And, still yet, it is a story that tells of families and decisions. In the following paper we present  an overview of Hunters story as well as a review of sorts. Dirty White Boys In Hunters novel we have the character of Lamar Pyle. Pyle, in the  opening scene is beating an enormously large Black man to death. He is beating him because he is apparently determined to rape Pyle. Pyle beats him to death in the  shower and then decided to escape before this mans gang members discover what happened. He knows that if he sticks around he, and all those around him perhaps, will be  killed. So Pyle escapes with his cousin and another man. Pyles cousin is a developmentally disabled man named Odell. The other man is somewhat of Pyles slave. His name is  Richard and he is a clearly psychopathic killer as well as an artist. He draws pictures that are full of fantasy which Pyle seems to find intriguing. The three  set off across Oklahoma and North Texas. They involve themselves in murder and robbery throughout their journeys, trying to stay alive and supporting themselves on the money they steal. We  note that Pyle, who does not seem to care about anything, clearly feels protective of his cousin, who would perhaps surely die without the protective presence of Pyle. In this
