PEST ANALYSIS A PEST analysis includes the political, economic, societal  and technological factors of a company; in other words, the external factors. Marks and Spencer take care in their external strategies to see to it that the company operates  at the best possible level for the political and societal factors. For instance, the company takes great pains to be politically and socially responsible when it states on the  website that "Most of our suppliers have suppliers of their own, who in turn may themselves be supplied by others. It would be impossible for us to control the  working conditions of each of the vast number of people who contribute in some way to what eventually becomes a Marks & Spencer product" (Marks and Spencer PG). However,  the website continues on to declare that Marks and Spencer is indeed determined to do what they can to "ensure adherence to the principles that we believe in" (PG).  Marks and Spencer published the company-wide Global Sourcing Principles.
