    4 - FINANCIAL RESULTS 13 1. Introduction Software of Excellence International (SOEI) is a New Zealand firm specialising in providing software for dental practices, including dental schools. The firm has  customers across the globe, including the UK, the US, Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia. The firm has grown rapidly and has a great deal of potential in the international markets, to  understand the company and its market a range of analytical tools can be used and the position of the firm an be assessed. 2. PEST The PEST analysis  looks at the different macro environmental insurances. There is little doubt that there have been positive political influences with the way dental services are provided. In countries where there is  universal healthcare or dental services are provided by the state there is the need for efficiency and with the use of public funds where there is an electorate there is  also the need for accountability. In other areas where dental care is provided by the private sector there are regulations that the providers need to comply with. In both cases  the software of SOEI is an aid to meeting these demands in a cost efficient way. The economic pressures to find ways of creating value are also drivers to the  use of the software that SOEI provide, Social changes have impacted ion the way dental care is perceived, making in more desirable in many markets that are still developing  and more essential in developed markets, as well as demanding more progressive treatments with the SOEI software also facilitating the ability of the dentists to assess treatment effectiveness. Technology is  a driver behind the development of the software and as there is increased knowledge regarding the benefit of software there is increased social acceptance.
