Attributable to the abatement is the fact that most of the students who are involved in a fight tend to do so only once compared with  the proportion of those who engage in more than one. This is not to say that campus violence is still not a significant problem within the countrys school system;  however, it is encouraging to note studies are reflecting somewhat of a decline. The problem is clearly formulated with regard to the Kingery et al article, as well as  having a theoretical rationale. The fairly recent phenomenon of school-aged kids killing their classmates and teachers for nothing more than the thrill of  the act has parents and administrators up in arms. Out from all the bloodshed and terror of such despicable crimes comes the most obvious of questions: Why are kids  killing each other? One of the most logical deductions is that of the newfangled child rearing practices that have developed within the past two decades. Latch-key kids, single-  and no-parent families, emotionally absent parents, working parents -- all these situations contribute not only to the lack of a childs moral and ethical education but also effect social work  for those families who depend upon its services. It is important for the student to consider the fact that if there is no role model -- no basis of  right versus wrong -- the child has no guidance as to what is acceptable social behavior. To merely entertain the idea of taking another persons life, however, would seem  an imbalance from within. II. VARIABLES/HYPOTHESIS In the Kingery et al study, the dependent variable is regarded as the various violence levels
