As in the paper on the Viola de Gamba one would want to  perhaps have an introduction that looks something like this: The Viola da Gamba (or viol) was created sometime around the fifteenth century. Confused often, much to the da Gambas champions,  with the cello, it is not to be confused with the violin family, though they are both stringed instruments. The viola da gamba came in to its own during the  renaissance period in history but there still remained a faithful following even when it fell out of popularity. Why would this be so? What is it about the Viola da  Gamba that seems to bring such devotion? Having thus stated the main crux of the paper, the student will then need to go on to begin to lay out the  main body of the paper. Since seven major philosophers have to be used, that would seem the best place to start. The transitional paragraph, then, might look something like the  following: THE ORIGIN and HISTORY During the fifteenth century, and as near as historians can pinpoint, near the region of Valencia, Spain, the viol da gamba was born. Many have  theorized that the viol was created in this area of the world, simply because Valencia was such a center for import and export. The musical and creative abilities from  all those coming into the city added to the development of the de gamba but, the viola da gamba was not destined to remain a regional instrument. In 1492, Rodrigo,  from the Borgia family was elected pope. As Pope Alexander VI he assumed the position and brought his collection of viola da gamba(Dolmetsch 1962). The tone is quiet but with
