    should be able to do whatever we want with animals, since the Bible itself says that humans have dominion over their entire world. Sara: I think we should respect all  animals for the sentient creatures they inherently are and unwaveringly abide by the notion that every living being has the right to a life free of pain and suffering, especially  at mans expense. II. OBSERVATIONS John: I believe this because animals are not conscious beings and, therefore, are bound by the constraints of their situation. No other  living creature could possibly rise to the same level of consciousness as what we humans possess; while science has made somewhat of an attempt to establish the extent to which  animals actually possess and exhibit conscious behavior, little in the way of definitive studies or results have been found. Inasmuch as this concept of animal consciousness has not been  proven much more than anecdotally or through limited research, there is nothing left to conclude other than that animals were created to be at mans disposal due to the grand  separation in mental and emotional aptitude. Sara: I believe this because when one considers the concept of consciousness, it is with great hesitation that its traits are attributed to those  who represent the animal kingdom. However, what mankind has typically done is employ the human form of consciousness when applying it to animals, making it quite difficult for them  to meet up to such an adaptation. Indeed, while animals may not possess the prerequisites for human consciousness - which not only include awareness of external experiences, but also  of the individuals own type of feelings, beliefs and mental occurrences - they do harbor their own form of consciousness that often transcends mankinds reality-based existence.
