We strive to transcend the boundaries of time and space, language and culture. In all disciplines and all fields, we see the pervasiveness of  the digital image as a means to educate, entertain, and enrich our lives (: http:/ / www.siggraph.org/ s2001/ cfp/ caf/ index.html.). History In the late 19th century, advances in  photography and film helped to spur a revolution in the study and perception of human motion. For the first time, an individual could slow down time to a speed at  which the different phases of a running or jumping motion were beautifully clear. Today, advances in computer animation may add a new dimension to our ability to understand and then  reproductively visualize human motion (Pollard ppg). In 1996, the company known as Pixar Animation Studios made history when they presented the world with the movie, "Toy Story." This movie  was a Hollywood breakthrough because all visuals were completed through computer animation. "Toy Story" has had the effect of actually making a movie without any real people in the  film. All characters were designed on computers. The animation process, however, even though designed and worked through on the computer, still needs the human factor, and is still  very long and very complicated. In the past computer animation was only used when the scene needed would be impossible or very difficult to create without it. Computer
