Examples and sample case study is presented which show both anxiety  heightened and lowered by the introduction of various colored lights, colored oils, silk scarves, and stones. Experiments are done on a double blind and random basis and the results cross  analyzed by others administering the test in various locations around the country. Bibliography includes internet sites which present up to date and the most current discoveries in the area of  light therapy, and noted experts in the field and their literature. INTRODUCTION: Mention the color red and it will conjure all  sorts of sensations for an individual, from memories to emotions. However, it can certainly be said that what the color red means to one individual may vary in its meaning  to another. However, as a general rule, psychologists have come to universally believe that color has an effect on the human emotions. Color can stimulate one to action or it  can be said that color can be used to soothe a person in a stressful situation. Therefore, the savvy counselor would be more inclined to use cool and calming colors  in his or her treatment of those with anxiety disorders. In a case study, Harry Wohlfarth and Catherine Sam of the University of Alberta observed the color environment of fourteen  severely handicapped and behaviorally disabled children. They ranged in ages from eight to eleven. Initially, the researchers substituted color values in the environment, for example, substituting yellow and blue for  orange, white, beige and brown and replacing the fluorescent lighting with full-spectrum bulbs(Sasaki, 2002).
