fairly lean management and visionary and innovative products. However, Boeing isnt in the same marketplace or climate it was when it first opened shop during the early part of the  20th century. A global competitive force, combined with demand for different types of product are facing this aerospace giant. If management becomes too complacent, trouble could ensue for the Seattle,  WA company. In this paper, well prepare a SWOT analysis for Boeing, then introduce some conclusions and recomenndations. Trends To best determine this particular portion, it would be a  good idea to analyze Boeings strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The companys strengths are is diversified business offerings, leadership position and strong brand awareness and its growth in Asia and  Europe (Datamonitor, 2007). The Boeing name, because of its longevity, is one of the best-known ones when it comes to aerospace. In addition to being on the front end at  the dawn of the aviation history, the company made it into the limelight with the first jumbo jet, the Boeing 747. Furthermore, the company supplies the U.S. military and other  private customers, in addition to airline companies around the world. Weaknesses are declining profitability and a high burden of debt (Datamonitor, 2007). Though many orders have been received for  Boeings 787 (see below), the delivery is the problem (Katz, 2008). The difficulty here is that Boeings "lean" attitude is fast encountering some stark realities, namely that this flagship airline  is taking longer to build, and is costing more money than it should have (Katz, 2008). Basically, disruptions occurred in-house with its lean method, and, as well notice below, has  been a huge problem on the supplier line (Katz, 2008). None of this has sat well on the companys balance sheet, as delays for the 787 continue to mount up.
