Hanna-Barbera artists might have envisioned, but certainly one can see that the society has come a long way. Technology has altered the lives of most people, particularly in the
past decade or so. Since the advent of the personal computer, and the Internet, the world has experienced a great deal of changes that has altered life immeasurably. The technological
achievements that took people from record players to MP3s made music portable and communication effected by instant messaging has created a new way of conversing. Technology has impacted the lives
of most everyone who lives in the twenty-first century, and it has done so quite dramatically in the banking industry. In fact, the banking and insurance industries, and any industry
equated with money, has been seen as traditional. While art and advertising industries are on the cutting edge, the pace of financial institutions has always been somewhat slow. That has
all changed. Still, it was not too long ago that people would deposit their paychecks into their banks on a weekday between nine and three oclock in the afternoon. Sometimes
they would scramble to get to the bank by noon on Saturday before it would close down again. Banking was not simple. Today, with automatic payments to creditors, automated paycheck
deposits and online banking, going to a physical bank is no longer necessary. Further, there are even now some virtual banks which advertise higher interest rates. They simply do not
have the overhead that the brick and mortar branches do. While many people take advantage of the new ease of banking, this has also made people a bit more vulnerable.
