equivalent to US $5.01 billion (Euromonitor, 2001). However, this was a decline in the previous year, with the sale in 1999 being 0.2% higher than in 2000 (Euromonitor, 2001).  By comparison the size of the market in the US the largest beer company in the US, Philip Morris, had a turnover in  200 of US $80.4 billion (Euromonitor, 2001). Therefore, the market is large, but still limited. The market is also different form that in the US where the market is dominated  by three major companies.
