    others (source). Zenger-Miller identified 17 behaviors they found in identified successful leaders. Ten of these will be discussed as they were observed in a leader. Jane Dawl was hired  as vice-president of human resources by a small electronics firm specifically for her ability to bring people together. The company was faced with in-house bickering between department heads. They were  not keeping up in innovative products because of the rivalry and lack of communication between departments. They were losing market share and had dropped from the #3 company among small  companies in their industry to #4. The first thing Jane did was to call a meeting of all department heads, at which time, she shared her vision for the company  - to bring the company back to the #3 position within 12 months. She gave an impassioned speech about the talent and skills of the workers, based on evidence  of past achievements. She posed rhetorical questions about where the managers wanted their companys position in the field. It was a vision every manager and every employee could buy into;  they didnt know how they were going to do it but they agreed they had the talent and skill. During this speech, she shared information with the managers about  the presidents vision - he wanted nothing less than third position in the market and he wanted the company to strive for second. Jane presented charts and graphs to clearly  illustrate the companys downward spiral over the past two years. She gave the mangers copies of these reports to share with their employees. Although everyone could buy into the vision,  one manager was skeptical that any kind of change would really be successful. Jane met with this manager to discuss the managers cynicism and was able to get him to
