in the United States is quite heated. While people debate the validity of abortion when the life of the mother is in danger, for example, China is literally exterminating fetuses
for the sake of governmental control. Not only is the woman not given a choice, she is forced to terminate a pregnancy for reasons beyond her control. It is almost
the opposite situation in the U.S. This very different position exacerbates the trade situation and general international relations. Thus, it is no wonder that China and the United States have
a completely opposite stance in respect to religion. In China, it is vilified, but in the Untied States it is upheld as significant. While interest in an array of
human rights violations in China is numerous, religious persecution is a significant part of the concern. In fact, a conservative lobbying group in Washington has questioned practices by the Chinese
government against Christian citizens (Bogert and Laris 44). Some have questioned whether or not the Christian groups accurately portray the current state of religious freedom in the
country (44). At the same time, there are many groups who also claim that they are not allowed to practice their religion in China. One is known as Falun Dafa
or Falun Gong. Falun Gong is actually an ancient practice designed for the mind and body and has its origin is as early as pre-historic China (Falun PG). The practice
includes slow, gentle movements as well as meditation (PG). One might compare it to yoga. Yet, this practice has more of a religious connotation. A primary part of Falun
