This is a market that  is often referred to as the backpacker market, but may be expanded beyond this to other budget travellers. This is a large and growing market with backpackers currently making up  10% of all international tourists to Australia (BOA, 2008). A key factor with the budget and backpacker hostel environment is that it is driven by demand. While many  hotels may be able to attract visitors to their locations, the basic accommodation provided by a hostel is unlikely to pull a tourist into the area without other drivers present  (BOA, 2008). The hostel will therefore seek to serve tourists within the target group that are planning a visit to Brisbane. The hostel will be centrally located and close to  transportation links as many backpackers will be utilising public transport. To enhance revenue there will also be complimentary services which will expand the potential sources of revenue and reduce the  risk associated with the project. The facilities will include a pub/bar which will help to enhance revenue from the hostel residents. With a fun and lively atmosphere the bar should  also appeal to local target market residents. 2. Product Description The core product is the provision of a hostel. The hostel will be targeting students and backpackers who are  looking for cost effective, but safe and clean overnight accommodations. The accommodation will be provided in both dormitory and private rooms; 45 dormitory style beds and 6 private rooms
