    is doubtful any progress could be made managing diversity until these basic managerial problems are fixed. One of those problems is their communication pattern. Another is their avoidance of resolving  issues right before their faces. Still another is a lack of acceptability along with a lack of responsibility. This consultant would wager that there is no common vision, no expressed  goal, no objectives and certainly no strategic plan. This company needs to hire an OD consultant, not a diversity consultant. Specifically, they would do well to move towards total quality  management. That said, we will proceed with the assignment regarding diversity. First, managers need to identify and name problems that may be related to the diversity of the workforce. The  first problem is isolation and self-imposed segregation with little or no interaction between members of different cultural groups. The second issue is that Hispanics always speak Spanish, which inherently leaves  out the rest of the workforce and which gives this group power. This is not an acceptable climate for all workers. The managers in departments where different languages are spoken  need to begin the process of interaction between co-workers by having workshop meetings structured so that workers must interact. There needs to be an agreement that only English is spoken  on the job. Another possibility is to change job roles so that different cultures are working together. In other words, management needs to determine what in the structure of job  roles fosters self-segregation and change those structures. Cross-training is one method to move people from one job task to another. 2. If I were the human resource manager  or the shipping and receiving manager, how would I feel about working at Didco?
