    the bad side of the clique leader, Jennifer. Sorenson (2004) said, "one of the primary reasons teams fail is because the team members are not willing to cooperate with each  other." Groups of individuals typically go through five distinct stages in their development: 1.) forming, when the group of people first come together; 2.) norming, when the group establishes its  work processes and rules for what is determined to be acceptable behavior; 3.) storming, when conflict emerges in the group; 4.) performing, when the group successfully works to accomplish its  goals; and 5.) adjourning, when the group disbands (Sorenson, 2004). The group of employees at this company who are supposed to be working collaboratively with each other received no training  in team work or in interpersonal skills. There are personality conflicts as well as power-mongering. Training in interpersonal skills will benefit everyone in the company. Training needs to be provided  in communication skills, especially listening, and in strategies to get along with other people who have different personalities. The training will teach employees the focus must be on the task  and not on the personal attributes of the other members of the company. Team development sessions will also help. These sessions focus on the participants getting to know each other.  The value is that the more people know each other, the less likely they are to try to sabotage each other or to create cliques. 2. Leadership The leadership  at this company can only be described as laissez-faire or completely lacking. To have "laissez-faire" and "leadership" together as a phrase is very nearly an oxymoron. They just do not  go together. There are laissez-faire managers but a laissez-faire leader is not a leader except by title. In other words, the title goes with a position but one cannot be
