    Summary of the research paper:

    8 pages in length. The similarity in communication issues that caused the behavioral dysfunctions described in both cases is the way in which the true problem was never discussed in either situation. Other than brief allusions on a couple of occasions, Mike did not sit Hannah down and explain to her why he was unsatisfied with the group, why he and the other four participants – the only ones providing answers – kept to themselves on the other side of the table or why there was such tension between and among what was supposed to be a friendly collection of people pooling their knowledge to win a trivia contest. For Harry, he should have addressed his sales engineers himself instead of sending in a combative stand-in who immediately launched into an argument. Harry held the respect of his sales engineers, a feature he could have easily utilized to his advantage if he would have simply explained his perspective and why the need for an employment contract had ever materialized in the first place. As it was, the premature leak served to threaten everyone who attended the meeting without any of them truly knowing why they were on guard, making them hostile and unyielding under the best of circumstances; within minutes, Harry had alienated his entire collection of sales engineers without ever having the opportunity to discuss with them the comprehensive components of his proposal.
