    presented by a student, HWA is an autonomous Cambodian division of a large Asian global corporation. With 350 employees, the company is broken into five different departments, each headed by  a manager. Each of the managers have been long-term employees of the company and had been in their respective management positions for a number of years. It has been noted  that recently the Hong Kong Group director had begun to focus on the companys profits which have declined in spite of reasonable turnover. Increasing costs have also been problematic. The  dilemma was outsourced and a team entered the company to review management practices and the team did find some problems. One problem discovered  is that the managing director has a tendency not to listen to other views and so there is not much exchange in terms of views or information. The case study  submitted by a student had also noted that the managing director views problems such as quality or rising costs as the responsibility of the production manager and so does not  exchange ideas with others who are on the same level. There is a tendency in the company to protect one anothers feelings and so feelings and attitudes are not  generally discussed. Although that is the case, if a customer complains, the managing director will lodge his criticism in an abrupt manner. Each manager presented in the case study  seems to have different personalities. The finance manager, for example, wants to make changes and is not afraid to confront the managing director. However, there is open conflict between all  of the department managers with particular problems in sales and marketing, production and distribution.
