    caught engaging in sexual activity with a sixteen year old boys fourteen year old sister and it is alleged that he sexually assaulted her. He had purportedly beaten her with  the heel of a shoe and the victim was almost unconscious. The juvenile suspect is a latchkey kid as his mother works second shift. The suspect explains that the victim  purchased marijuana and alcohol and invited him to her house and that the illegal substances were in the home when he arrived. They had consensual sex. The victims brother came  home and called the police. The juvenile does have a history of sexual battery. The juvenile is charges with attempted sexual assault of a minor, aggravated assault, possession  of an alcoholic beverage, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). Will the charges stick? What are the social and psychological implications of such events? What should be done  with the juvenile? First, it should be noted that the boys explanation of what occurred does not include the end result. It is possible that the girl was not unconscious  or hit with a shoe and if she were, it could have been the brother who had done that. If in fact he saw his little sister having sex, he  might have been angry enough to throw something. However, whether or not he is guilty of that crime, there is a dilemma because the juvenile is in the home of  another juvenile who possessed marijuana and purchased the alcohol. Obviously, if there is a bottle of alcohol in someones abode, that is not illegal. Much of course will have to  do with the state in which one lives in. It seems that although alcohol is a legal beverage, if the juvenile knowingly consumes it, according to Indiana law for example,
