dealer installation. The firm owns the patents and makes the product that of course includes a sizeable markup. As a result, the 20-year-old company pays its private owners very well.
The enterprise shows growth in overseas sales at the very time that domestic market demand is exploding. Company personnel include eight managers
and supervisors, 30 factory workers, and six office employees. In addition to their ordinary duties, some of the staff also is responsible for purchasing materials and component parts. The production
manager for example buys finned radiators and copper tubing. The shipping supervisor buys mounting assemblies and the sales manager buys shipping cartons. In this case study, a purchasing manager joins
the existent company. In this example, several things come up that provide both opportunities and challenges for existent staff members and the
new purchasing manager. The President of the company is of course ambivalent about the changes. What would the addition of a new purchasing manager do for the company? What would
