Corporate Vision The corporate vision statement might also be considered a mission statement. It is written as: Our  vision is to make Cathay Pacific the most admired airline in the world. * Ensuring safety comes first * Providing Service Straight From the Heart * Encouraging product leadership *  Delivering superior financial returns * Providing rewarding career opportunities (Cathay Pacific Airways, Vision, 2005). The company is very clear in its loyalty and dedication to Hong Kong and therefore,  the company will "continue to make substantial investments to develop Hong Kongs aviation industry and enhance Hong Kongs position as a regional transportation hub" (Cathay Pacific Airways, Vision, 2005).  History of Company On September 24, 1946, Roy C Farrell, an American, and Sydney H de Kantzow, an Australian, founded Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific Airways, About,  2005). The company was initially headquartered in Shanghai but was subsequently moved to Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific Airways, About, 2005). Legend has it that a group of foreign correspondents and  Farrell dreamed up the name for the company while at a bar in a Manila Hotel (Cathay Pacific Airways, About, 2005). Their first aircraft was fondly named Betsy;  it was a converted Douglas DC3 (Cathay Pacific Airways, About, 2005). It was sold in 1955 (Cathay Pacific Airways, About, 2005).
