years of loyalty and service to this company due to globalization. The company she works for is sold and moves to Mexico in order to cut costs and employ
cheap labor. The crux of the book is centered on the injustices which globalization inevitably creates. This book and this argument are then analyzed in terms of the
opinions of both Friedman and Chandler and their views of globalization. Mollies Job by William Adler Mollies Job is
the story of a town called Paterson which goes from being a booming industrial city to a virtual ghost town due to globalization. Mollie is a black woman who
came to Paterson in the 1950s and she works for a company called Universal which makes parts for florescent lights. She is an assembly line worker and she works
hard for the company. Mollie ends up working for this company for over 40 years. Adler does an excellent job of mirroring Mollies life with two other women who
work the same job as Mollie, but in different locations. Throughout this time, the town of Peterson begins to experience an exodus, as people leave the town in exchange
for the suburbs. Although this story is set in the town of Peterson, it could be any big American city whose livelihood is industrially based. Middle class America
no longer wants to live in these urban cities and instead opt for the quiet comforts of the suburbs which correlate with their new, more technologically based jobs.
Another interesting element in this book is the way the workings of political and financial leaders directly impact Mollies life even though
