    great disdain for the lack of any familial ties. This void of love and guidance is filled with hatred and resentment not only towards the very people who deprived  them of such emotional necessities, but also toward the world at large. No one is safe from this gangster. Out of this mentality comes a sense of owing --  that because the diseased home environment made it virtually impossible for the black gangster to be a functioning part of society, he feels totally justified in asserting his self-proclaimed power  to take whatever it is he wants. Reasoning with him is futile, because he has no conscience -- no desire to recognize what is right or wrong. Having  been brought into this world predisposed to a life of crime, the gangsters are cursed from the moment they are born. METHODOLOGY Studying the connection between children and gangs  will no doubt prove that gangs are not necessarily associated with drugs, as previously expected (Economist 1994). The first goal, then, is to identify why children get involved in  gangs. If not for the drug trade, then what for? It is expected that it is the social interaction itself that accounts for gang activity. By studying  some of the biggest gangs in the nation, especially those in Chicago (The Latin Kings, the Latin Disciples, etc) (Economist 1994) it can be determined whether the main goal of  the gangs is to sell drugs or to have social interaction. The methodology behind this research will be to contact police departments in the area to get an accounting for  the drug connection between street gangs and drug sales. Do more youths get killed because of rival drug sales? If so, who are they selling to? Why
