    skirts that became known as the New Look the style helped establish the fashion house by the same name, giving it a strong foundation on which the subsequent years  have built. Christian Dior founded the company by the same name in 1946, his financing came from a textile businessman by the name of Marcel Boussac, allowing Dior to  set u his own courtier house, based at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris. This address is still the headquarters of the company today. The house opened for business in 1947  gaining fame very quickly with his New Look. This was a design in its time as it was flamboyant and rich, in contrast to the years before where there had  been rationing and shortages. It was the work of Dior, with his partner Jaques Rouet that is often credited with the re-establishment of Paris as the worlds fashion centre following  the Second World War. The brand benefited from its popularity and association with the stars, worn by well known personalities including Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner, Eva Peron, Marlene Dietrich  and the Duchess of Windsor. The intentional brand dissemination can be credits mainly to Jaques Rouet, with this there was related diversification, the company was one of the first to  develop and market a fashion house fragrance under the name Miss Dior and also opened international shops and a fur department. The company had a good history recognising and hiring  talent. In the 1950s Yves Saint Laurent was appointed as Diors assistant, but later left due to being enlisted for military service. Other designers have included Marc Bohan and Gianfranco  Ferre. Designers today include John Galliano designing the Womens wear and for means wear Hedi Slimane. John Galliano is the current Design Director of Christian Dior moving to Dior
