"Whatre you lookin at?" Chris looked away as the man in the cell next to him, stood, expelled a large quantity of gas, then walked to the
bars that separated them. "Yeah. You were lookin at me. I seen ya. Pretty boy." "Leave me alone." There that old feeling was again, that innate knowledge that hed honed
to a fine skill in high school. Back then hed have been looking at the world through the narrow slats of a locker. Chris forced himself to look at the
man standing in the next cell, the bars keeping the mans body from coming through, but not the spit. Here, the bars are being used symbolically. Chris is locked
up in a jail cell, but he is also very confined inside his mind and emotions. The sound of the mans saliva smacking him in the forehead broke him
from his self induced stupor. Chris stood and glared at the man. The dim light offered little definition to the mans face, but the smell of stale body odor was
overwhelming. "Listen piss for brains, I dont have to talk to you and you dont have to talk to me. Got it?" Without waiting for the man to make his
