hears the knock at the door that no one wants to hear. A ten year old girl informs Ally that she is her mother. Throughout time, that knock was reserved  for men. Any man might have fathered a child if in fact he had sex with women. There is always that fear that someday, he would find out that he  is indeed a father. In the Jewish religion, a child is deemed to be a Jew if in fact his mother is, because they know for sure who the mother  is, but no one is certain who is really the father. Ally McBeal has an instant family as the repairman seems to take on a fatherly role. Yet, something is  awry. It is not natural. Indeed, as if to provide viewers with a puzzle, it is eventually revealed that Ally donated eggs and so, in fact, the girl who arrived  at the door could be hers biologically. What are the implications of such a scenario? More and more scientists are tampering with nature to the extent that there are  legal battles over embryos and the ideation that in fact, one day man will be able to create children in an artificial womb, is upon the world. These are issues  of science fiction, but as time goes on they become science fact, a situation that has turned the legal world on its head as cases have been appearing in respect  to surrogate mothering as well as problems that crop up in respect to stored eggs. Gay families often confront legal consequences because same-sex partners cannot conceive a child. With all  of this, ethical problems surface. In more recent days, the future became the present when Dolly was created. Cloning seems to be an important step in terms of reproductive medicine.
