Without this resource a company could not operate. Not  only are employees necessary for the functioning of a company, they are also the source of core competences and a potential source of competitive advantage. In understanding an organisation and  the way in which the human resource function manifest and how they may be improved it is first necessary to understand the organisation itself and the strategic approach which s  created and supported by the employees. 2. Strategic Background of Coca-Cola. Coca Cola can be analysed by reference to different model, such as porter five forces models and  the use of a SWPT Analysis. These give an insight to the company and its environment. By using these tools we will see that the company has an aggressive growth  strategy, with the use of growth by acquisition and organic growth and related diversification in order to maintain a dominant leader position which it hopes to retain with the use  of costs advantage and differentiation 2.1 Porters Five Forces Porters five forces model considers the external macro effects on an organisation in a  business environment (Goett, 1999). His five forces model is designed to show how the external environment can effect the way a business operates, and that any strategy a business undertakes  should take these factors into consideration when analysing their position and possible future (DAveni, 1999). In understanding these external forces we will  be better placed to deal with them, understanding their combined impact, when they come to play. The five forces Porter identifies are the existing competitors, the threat of new entrants,
